Find me on
My interest in language and writing
started at an early age. My initial projects were limited to letters for distant
family members; an overseas pen-pal and essays for school. I also secretly dabbled in poetry. Although
an introverted child, my mother frequently described me as having “an
overripe imagination”. Writing became an outlet and until 2007, I never
considered it a viable career option.
In 2007, I enrolled in a freelance writing course and my passion was evident when I raced through the modules, receiving positive comments from tutors. Within a few months, I had several articles and photographs published in the local newspaper.
Staying with the theme of communication, I followed an interest to become a professional counsellor in 2009. After only months of study, I felt I was on the wrong career path and pondered the thought of writing full-time.
In 2010, I returned to writing by enrolling in an online ‘feature writing for magazines and newspapers’ course. It was this course that gave me the skills, inspiration and motivation to follow my writing ambitions.
I currently write articles and copy for newspapers, magazines, websites and small businesses. I enjoy a wide range of topics: parenting/ family, travel, health, fitness, wellbeing and social issues. I also write a food, health & wellness blog called Kai Chronicles.
I have also been a keen photographer since the age of seven, when I got my first camera. From 2002 – 2004 I worked in the tourism industry as a photographer which enabled me to travel the world taking photos for work and play. Photography will always be a passion and my camera is never far from reach.
Although my writing tends to focus on children, travel, health, food and wellness, I have an interest in many topics and do not limit myself to any one type or style of writing. I am currently writing articles, blog posts, fiction, short stories and copywriting. Need to say something and just can't find the words? Contact me!!
